The painter Mikuláš Klimčák, who has designed the present emission, was born in 1921 in Humenné, Eastern Slovakia.

Klimčák studied at the department of drawing and painting at the Slovak Institute of Technology in Bratislava and at the Institute of Applied Art in Prague. His work embraces monumental and decorative projects (including windows for both sacred and secular architecture, and tapestries), graphics, oil painting and icon painting on wood, and, occasionally, sculpture.

Klimčák creates his works not as an observer, but rather as an explorer or researcher of human life and its essence as it relates to himself, to the world and to God. His approach is first and foremost one of self-knowledge, meditation, analysis of the object of research, its evaluation and, finally, synthesis - the result of his discovering fashioned into a message for the present and the future. Klimčák draws his inspiration from contemporary life and from the traditions of the nation and its ancient history, but his most potent source is the spiritual domain and faith in goodness.
