Nativity (Adoration of Jesus) - both-sided panel painting fragment, with a painting called Escape to Egypt on its underside: Pine wood, on the main side in places secured by bandage, tempera. Height: 69 cm, width: 56,5 cm. The panel has been damaged by sawing off pieces in the upper and partially also in the lower rim, while on the left side a quarter or even a third of the panel is missing. Authorship was assigned to the master of Crowned Madonna Enthroned from Spišská Stará Ves. The panel comes from the Roman-Catholic church in Spišská Stará Ves, where it was originally a part of the main altar wing, from which the middle panel with Madonna has been preserved. The altar was removed in the 18th century and it was replaced by a baroque one. The panel was found in 1969 in the church sacristy. After it was restored, the unique quality and importance of the fragment has been confirmed. The painter was a master from a workshop that created the altar in Partizánska Ľupča, that has been taken to pieces. The fragment from Stará Ves is more advanced and its quality excels particularly. It belongs to the first top features of the new style in the area of Slovakia. Its advancement dates in the view of the country and its variety of color proves the fact that the painting dates back to the beginning ofthe 60' of the 15th century.
